We’ve been working behind the scenes to provide easier access to weather information. Here’s some of the recent changes.
. We've added the option to change the time between UTC and Local time in the surface weather map (Current Station Observations).
. We've added the option to view wet bulb temperature in the graphical displays, accessible from the surface weather map (Current Station Observations) or a station's interface (Graphical Display).
· We’ve installed new, faster hardware on a different campus network and ported all the software for MesoWest onto that hardware. You’ll see redirects from our old products to http://mesowest.utah.edu. Please update any bookmarks, as the old web server will be decommissioned this fall.
· There are a number of new ways to access weather information via MesoWest: streamlined tables and graphs designed for mobile devices (simply go to http://mesowest.utah.edu from a mobile device); Google Earth (download http://mesowest.utah.edu/data/load_mesowest.kmz); and Unidata IDV users may want to import hourly files (contact us for details).
· The line graphs of weather conditions had to be changed to use a new type of plotting software. You’ll find simple line graphs available in a number of places. But try this link to see how you can plot different stations, variables, and control the graph settings. These types of graphs can be generated from any of the individual station tabular displays by selecting “Change to Graphical Display” in the left margin.
· If you can’t find what you’ve been used to seeing from MesoWest, please let us know. Nearly all of the original products are supported, but there are a few things that we don’t have the resources to support any longer. Some of these legacy products remain available via ROMAN.
· If you have any questions or comments, send us email at atmos-mesowest@lists.utah.edu. We’ll also let you know about updates via Facebook. Click here and become a fan.
